Transilien; the SNCF brand in Ile-de-France

In 1999 the Transilien program was launched intended to build gradually, a new image of the transport system in Ile-de-France (the famous "commuter trains") from concrete actions led by the essential preoccupation to improve the quality of the service to the travelers.
Transilien SNCF was born on September 20th, 1999 as a label, then a program and finally became a brand intended to express 4 major axis for the francilien public transport:

- the SNCF fight for the safety of its travellers, its personnel, its equipment (prevention, protection, repression).

- priority granted to the quality of the service in Ile-de-France in all its aspects: punctuality of course, but also the renewal of the stations and the trains, cleanliness, information to the travellers (particularly and especially in disturbed situation), improvement of the interfaces city-stations road and carparks.

- the diversification of the offer to always develop the frequentation of its lines: to adjust the service roads (more trains, more often where the need is), to develop the night buses to answer an increasing request.

- the commitment of the 20 000 railwaymen of the network in Ile-de-France for quality and service.

Today, Transilien became real for the 4 million Franciliens who take regularly or occasionally the train with a 87% of notoriety.

Gradually, thanks to the Syndicat des Transports d'Ile-de-France (STIF) financing and the Région Ile-de-France, environment, the comfort and the quality of service in the stations and in the trains progressed with a direct effect: the traffic increases approximately 5% every year on all the lines.
